WHAT DO I DO ABOUT A SANITARY SEWAGE BACKUP?

Call the City Clerk's Office to report the problem. A maintenance crew will be dispatched to inspect the problem. If the city line is clogged, the city will unclog the main. If it is the home or building's line, it is the responsibility of the owner to repair it. back to FAQs

WHAT DEPOSIT AMOUNT IS REQUIRED FOR WATER, SEWER AND REFUSE SERVICE?

$150.00, which is refundable with interest after a minimum of   one full year of payments without penalties, which is applied to the resident's final bill if they are moving from Oswego. Deposits are refunded one time annually, the first of January. Deposits may be waived with approved credit references. back to FAQs

 

WHERE DO I PAY MY WATER BILL?

At the City Clerk's Office at 703 5th Street, office hours are from 8 am. to 5 p.m. Mon. -Fri. The City of Oswego also has a night depository located on the front of City Hall.

WHO DO I CONTACT ABOUT A WATER LEAK?

Mon-Fri. between 8 am. and 5 p.m. call the City Clerk's Office at 795-4433.
After hours call the sheriff's Department at 795-2565 and they will dispatch the appropriate personnel. If the city line is leaking, the city will fix the line. If the home or building line is leaking, the property owner must repair it. back to FAQs


WHAT ARE THE WATER RATES?

The minimum water charge is $11.20 for all customers within the city limits; $5.65 for each additional 1,000 gallons up to and including 2,000 gallons; $5.40 for each additional 1,000 gallons up to and including 4,000 gallons; $5.10 for each additional 1,000 gallons up to and including 11,000 gallons; for each additional 1000 gallons over 11,000 at $4.80 per 1,000 gallons. back to FAQs

         

WHAT ARE THE SEWER RATES?

City residents pay $16.40 for the first 1,000 gallonsand $1.35 per thousand gallons after that. The residential sewer charge is based on an average of three months water usage.

WHERE DO I GET A DOG OR CAT LICENSE?

At the City Clerk's Office, the Oswego Veterinary Clinic, or at the Regional Veterinary Clinic. They are $2.00 per tag for both cat and dogs if spayed or neutered and $5.00 for the animals that have not been spayed or neutered. You must have a pet vaccination registration to get the license. IS THERE TRASH SERVICE ON HOLIDAYS?

No. If a holiday falls on Monday or Tuesday residential trash will be picked up on

Wednesday.  Holiday’s observed are: Martin Luther King Day, President’s Day, Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving and the following Friday, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, New Year’s Day.

If a holiday falls on a Saturday or Sunday, the preceding Friday or following Monday will be taken, whichever is closest to the actual holiday. back to FAQs

 

WILL YOU PICK UP BOXES AFTER A RESIDENT HAS MOVED IN?

Yes. We can either pick them up on your regular trash pick-up, or you can call for a special trash pick-up on Wednesdays. back to FAQs

 

WHAT WILL THE CITY PICK UP ON WEDNESDAY TRASH PICK-UP?

You must call the City clerk’s office to schedule this pick-up. It includes old furniture, appliances, rugs, etc. Any item that contains chlorofluorocarbons must have a tag that says an authorized dealer has removed the chlorofluorocarbons. The city will not pick up rocks, ashes, old vehicle parts or construction materials. If an item is questionable contact the City Office. The items should be placed in the same area as your regular trash pick-up. back to FAQs

        

WILL THE CITY PICK UP LEAVES AND GRASS TRIMMINGS?

Yes, they pick these up every Wednesday for a $3.00 fee. They must be bagged, and you need to call the City Office to be put, on the list. They will also pick up brush on the first Friday of each month for a fee of $5.00 small pile, $10.00 medium size pile and $20.00 or higher on large piles not to exceed $50.00. back to FAQs

        

CITY BRUSH DUMP: WHEN IS IT OPEN AND HOW DO I GET THERE?

The brush dump is open every Wed. from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and the 3rd Sat. of each month from 8:00 am. to 12 noon for residents to haul their own brush at no charge. The brush dump is located on Chisholm Lane. (From 6th and Ohio, go south on Ohio, cross the railroad tracks, make an immediate right turn on Chisholm LN.) DOES THE CITY HAVE A PUBLIC SWIMMING POOL?

Yes. The Oswego Swimming Pool is located at Riverside Park. It is open during the afternoon and evening hours from Memorial Day until mid-August. Swimming lessons are provided and fees are posted annually. You may call the pool at (620)795-4913 during the pool season, other wise call the City Office at 795-4433 for more information. back to FAQs

Yes. The Library is located at 704 4th Street. Hours are Tues. 1:00 pm. to 8:00 p.m., Wed. 10:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Thurs. and Fri. 1:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., and Sat. from 9:00 am. to 1:00 p.m.  Phone 620-795-4921. back to FAQs

        

IS THERE A PLACE FOR RV’S TO CAMP?

Kamp Siesta is located North of the Fairgrounds and Danny Elliott Park is located North of the River at a cost of $10.00 per night; reserved spots are $15.00 per night. You can pay your fees at the Visitor’s Information Center, City Hall or pay an Oswego Police Officer.

HOW CAN I RESERVE A SHELTER HOUSE AT RIVERSIDE PARK?

You may make reservations at the City Clerk’s Office. There is a $10.00 fee. Otherwise the shelter houses are used on a first come-first serve basis. back to FAQs

       

IS THERE A DISPOSAL SITE FOR BUILDING MATERIALS?

Yes. There is a fee. All  vehicles must be weighed at the CO-OP and the weigh ticket must be presented to the person on duty at the dumpsite. Items that can be dumped are lumber, shingles, siding, windows, rock, bricks, plaster, furniture, etc. Items that can’t be dumped are ANY hazardous materials, appliances or any regular household refuse. DOES THE CITY PROVIDE ANY COMPOST RECYCLING?
